For learning to occur, there must be meaningful interaction not only from a teacher to his or her students, but there must be interaction among students and from the students to the teacher. Students have to feel as if they play a key role in the educational process.  Students will only feel this way after they become motivated to learn.  Therefore, a teacher’s primary objective is to motivate the students to learn anything he or she is teaching.  Once students are motivated, a teacher must allow students to give input on what is important to them and feedback on the teacher’s ability and style.  Once the students feel they play an important role in the classroom, they will assume the role of partial ownership and value the effort of themselves and others in the class.

    A teacher should have knowledge pertaining to all subjects, not only his or her own content area. Teachers should be available to help students in a vast array of subjects. Students must be able to trust teachers to give answers or advice whenever needed. One important aspect of a teacher’s job is spending time to cultivate positive working relationships with students. When teaching students it is absolutely essential that the students trust their teacher. Mistrust in a classroom can be a strong deterrent to learning. A teacher must take the time to learn about their students’ hobbies, interests, and lives in general.  In doing so, a teacher will begin to cultivate the relationships that are so important to classroom management.
 
    Teaching is much more than an eight-hour job.  A teacher must become an integral part of the school community; as well as the surrounding community that the school district serves. A teacher must take pride in his or her occupation, realizing they are shaping the minds that will soon become part of our society. A teacher must cultivate relationships in the community, and he or she should develop a continuous commitment to the community. A teacher should always be accessible to parents or others in the community, and must always be a role model to the younger generation.
