Miller
Underwriting Advisor
A self-described “Public Radio Geek,” Jan comes to
Indiana Public Radio with a long background in developing partnerships
with public radio affiliates throughout the country. Jan
served on the Indiana Public Radio Advisory Council for two years
before joining the staff as an Underwriting Advisor in the fall
of 2007. Jan enjoys the opportunity to work with the business
and non-profit community to utilize public radio to get their message
to the listener. Jan says, “Sponsorship with public
radio is more than advertising, it is an opportunity to develop
a partnership with the station and with our listeners.”
Jan graduated from Anderson University with degrees in Criminal Justice and Psychology,
with minors in Music and Bible. She has a diverse professional background,
beginning her career in Indiana as a Juvenile Probation Officer, then moving
on to Marketing and Outreach for Community Health. She worked in Washington,
DC as a Congressional Assistant to three Members of Congress, including the 6th
District’s own, Phil Sharp. Her career took her back to her home state
of Oklahoma, where she worked in International Development and Community Organizing.
She returned to Indiana in 2003 and worked in development of school/community
partnerships before joining IPR. In her spare time, Jan has also worked as a
food server, caterer and wedding coordinator.
