Purpose for Teachers:

The purpose of this Unit Study is to have the students better understand not only the piece and the composer, but also the time period and historical events surrounding them.  The second purpose is to cover as many national standards as possible while providing the appropriate activities for the students.

It is the explicit goal of this Unit Study to have the students develop a greater awareness of the Romantic Era, by studying not only the music, but also other aspects connected through the music, although they may be of other disciplines.

National Standards:
The 2nd National Standard is covered through playing this piece at a concert with other pieces.
