Now Online: Master of Arts
in Technology Education - designed for those teaching Technology Education
(formerly Industrial Arts) or others with a bachelor's degree in
any area who have an interest in Technology Education.
Now Online: Master
of Arts in Career & Technical Education - designed for those
who teach Career and Technical Education areas (formerly "Vocational
Education,") specifically those
specializing in trade and industry, who already possess a bachelor's
degree in any area.
Each of these long-established degrees
from Ball State University's Department of Technology can be completed at your own
pace, requiring a total of 30 credit hours of coursework, and does not
require a thesis. In addition, you can transfer up to nine credit hours
(three courses) of graduate work from other universities, subject to
approval. The program
has been designed to emphasize ease of use, flexibility, and contact
with your professor and fellow students while retaining the
long-established integrity of graduate education.
The program is
tailored for teachers who desire a Master's degree or have continuing
education requirements to fulfill. You can complete your degree or take
a single course. With so few masters programs in Technology Education
and Career & Technical Education available
throughout the country, the Master of Arts degrees
offered online from Ball State University (North Central accredited) provide place-bound teachers
flexibility, convenience, and advancement opportunity without the need
to travel to campus.
Tuition Rates:
Graduate tuition for online
courses
through Ball State University's School of Extended Education has been
less than on-campus tuition. The following
rates were set by the BSU Board of Trustees.
Spring 2009:
- In-state (Indiana Residents): $246 /
credit ($738 for a 3-credit course)
- Out-of-state: $428/credit ($1284 for a
3-credit course)
Summer 2009:
- In-state (Indiana Residents): $256 /
credit ($768 for a 3-credit course)
- Out-of-state: $454/credit ($1362 for a
3-credit course)
There is also a one-time $35 admission
fee for US residents (or $40 for those applying as International
Students.) New tuition rates
beginning in Fall 2009 will likely be determined by
the BSU Board of Trustees at their April 2009 meeting. Out-of-state tuition is higher
because Ball State receives partial state funding for each Indiana
resident taking a course. For more information, see
