The Juanita Hults Environmental Learning Center (JHELC) is managed by the Natural Resources and Environmental Management Department to provide quality environmental education for school groups in Northeast Indiana. JHELC is a 96-acre farm that was willed to the department in 1987 by Juanita Hults Maley. She envisioned the property should be used to reach students and enhance their awareness of the natural environmental around them. On the property are five ecosystems: a wetland, a tallgrass prairie, a hardwood forest, fields undergoing natural succession, and agricultural areas.
