A partner in Global Learning and
Observations to Benefit the
Environment

What is the GLOBE Program?
The Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment (GLOBE) Program is a K-12 hands-on science and education program that unites students, teachers, and scientists from around the world in a collaborative study of the dynamics of the Earth's environment. The established goals of GLOBE are 1) to enhance the environmental awareness of individuals throughout the world, 2) to contribute to scientific understanding of the Earth,  and 3) to help all students reach higher levels of achievement in science and mathematics.  Schools can actively participate in the GLOBE program after certified GLOBE instructors train teachers in GLOBE protocols.

What are the benefits of GLOBE?
The GLOBE program has a significant impact on science and math education, promotes interdisciplinary approaches to environmental education, and uses Internet technology to bring together local and international collaboration.  Hundreds of thousands of GLOBE students in over 10,000 schools in more than 95 countries are taking important environmental measurements and reporting their data for use by scientists and other GLOBE students.

What is the role of GLOBE partners?
As a GLOBE partner, the BSU Field Station and Environmental Education
Center recruits GLOBE schools, trains GLOBE teachers,
and mentors GLOBE students in their areas.
