Thyme-Leaved Speedwell

Habitat:

rich, moist woods, stream banks

Plant Height:

10-15 cm tall, 30 cm long, creeping; many stems from base; rooting at the nodes

Flower Color:

whitish blue with purple stripes

Flower:

complete; perfect; 4 sepals; 4-rounded lobes, lower lobe reduced; glabrous externally, pubescent internally near the apex of the corolla tube; 2 stamens, anthers dark colored; ovary superior with 2 locules; placentation axile

Inflorescence:

terminal bracteate racemes;

Fruit:

capsule many seeded

Leaves:

opposite; entire; very short-petiolate; mostly glabrous; leaves reduced to bracts in inflorescence

Bloom Time:

April - July

Origins:

non-native

Other:

very similar to V. officinalis , V. officinalis main stems never terminate in inflorescence while V. serpyllifolia  does
