Characteristics

Habitat: moist woods, prefers acid soils
Plant Height: 20-40 cm at anthesis (full maturity), growing taller later, forking above
Flower Color: yellow 
Flower: 6 tepals, conspicuously glandular and papillose inside tepals
Inflorescence: 1-3 flowers on fertile branches
Fruit: capsule
Leaves: 1-4 below forking branch; several leaves on fertile branch; perfoliate (basal margin connate around stem), oval to lance-oblong; glabrous beneath
Bloom Time: June
