Dr. Jeffrey S. Hornsby, SPHR is a professor and Director of the Human Resource
Management Program in the Management Department at Ball State University.
His research has concentrated in the areas of compensation, team
building, corporate entrepreneurship, honesty testing, and human
resource management practices for emerging businesses. He has authored
or co-authored over forty articles appearing in the Journal of
Applied Psychology, Strategic Management Journal, Group and Organizational
Management, Journal of Small Business Management, Entrepreneurship
Theory and Practice, Public Personnel Management, Mid-American Journal
of Business, Advanced Management Journal, Small Business Forum,
Journal of Leadership Studies and the Journal of Business
and Psychology.
Dr. Hornsby is also certified
by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) as a Senior
Professional in Human Resource Management (SPHR). Dr. Hornsby's
related experience includes extensive corporate training and consulting
in Team building, Corporate Entrepreneurship, Surpervisory Management,
Compensation, Market Research, and Human Resource Management. He
has worked with several firms including BorgWarner Automotive, Bank
One, Ameritech, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, VEI/IMM (a subsidiary
of Community Hospitals), Ontario Systems Corporation, State of Indiana
Department of Commerce, Frank Miller Lumber Company, Muncie Power
Products and Pathologists Associates. |

Dr. Michael G. Goldsby teaches
and writes in the areas of entrepreneurship, business ethics, strategic
management, and international business. His current research interests
include the development of entrepreneurial environments, natural
perspectives on competition, the impact of varying views of human
nature on business, the development of social capital as a source
of competitive advantage, the logistics/strategy link, and the usage
of self-leadership in entrepreneurship, ethical decision making
and individual and group motivation. Additionally, as a management
educator, Goldsby received the Jack Hoover Award for Teaching Excellence
at Virginia Tech. Professor Goldsby has published research in The
Journal of Managerial Psychology, Eastern Economic Journal, Management
Decision, Teaching Business Ethics, and The Journal of Legal Studies
Education. The Council of Logistics Management published a case
that he and his brother, Dr. Thomas J. Goldsby of Ohio State, had
accepted in an international competition. It was also presented
as the featured case at the National M.B.A. Competition in Logistics
in 2001. He has presented his research findings at national conferences
in locations such as New York City, Miami, Kona, Hawaii, Toronto,
Canada, Boston, and Atlanta, and also served as keynote speaker
at various ceremonies and banquets. He is currently a member of
the Academy of Management, the International Association of Business
and Society, the Southern Management Association, the Midwest Academy
of Management, USASBE, and the Society for Business Ethics. Dr.
Goldsby received his Ph.D. in strategic studies in management from
Virginia Tech in 1998, and taught three years in the School of Business
at the University of Southern Indiana. |

Rob Mathews is the Coordinator of Outreach Programs at the
Midwest Entrepreneurial Education Center. In this capacity, he serves
as the Coordinator of the Entrepreneurship Dynamics Laboratory at
Ball State. Additionally, Mathews teaches in the area of small business
management. He also works directly with students on business feasibility
and business plan research and writing. Mathews has been published
in Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice. He was an Outstanding Young
American in 1998. Mathews was a finalist for the National Retail
Hardware Association’s National Young Retailer of the Year
Award in 1998 and 1999. Mathews received his undergraduate degree
from Ball State in 1997 in Entrepreneurship, where he won the Entrepreneurship
Excellence Award. He received his M.B.A. from Ball State in Entrepreneurship
and Management Information Systems in 2001. |

Maggie Ailes is the Executive Assistant for the Institute
of Entrepreneurship and the Midwest Entrepreneurial Education Center.
She has been a tremendous influence to both entities. She demonstrates
attentiveness to detail with every aspect of her job responsibilities
making her efficient and informed. Above all, she is friendly and
always willing to provide her assistance. Ms. Ailies is the licensed
ACE-Net Operator for the state of Indiana. Her history of service
to Ball State University have been in the following departments:
University Computing Services, Psychological Science, Department
of Management, and the Midwest Entrepreneurial Education Center.
Some of her accomplishments include being nominated for the A. J.
Morton Award for Excellence and Staff Performance in 2000 and 2001,
and being awarded the Academic Affairs Meritorious Service Award
in 2002, the Entrepreneurial Support Award in 2002, and also being
honored by the Entrepreneurship Advisory Board for her tireless
support in 2003. |

Karen A. Vaughn is the Public Relations and Technology Coordinator
for the Midwest Entrepreneurial Education Center and the Entrepreneurship
Dynamics Lab. Her main responsibilities include website management,
information technology related issues and all public relations for
the Midwest Entrepreneurial Education Center. She received a Bachelors
of Science Degree from Ball State University’s Entrepreneurship
Program. She went on to launch Gift Baskets From the Heart, Inc.,
a retail business that she owned and operated for 14 years in Fort
Wayne, Indiana. She was awarded Outstanding Young Women of America,
1990 and the Emerging Young Entrepreneur Award in 1991. She returned
to Ball State University and completed a Master of Science Degree
in Information and Communication Sciences. |
