Insider's Guide
to the UN by Linda Fasulo, 2004. Good, short
update introduction to the UN by one of its most seasoned journalists.
Ralphy
Bunche- An American Life by Brian Urquhart, 1993. Best book on how
a dedicated American International Civil Servant built the UN's
reputation for being, against all odds, a success at Peacemaking.
Bunche was also a remarkable, but still largely unknown distinguished
Black American.
The
Man Without a Gun by Giandomenico Picco. 1999. A courageous
autobiography by a chief UN hostage negotiator in the Middle East.
U.N.
JIGSAW by Wilfrid Grey, 2000. This
comprehensive overview about life and work at the United Nations gives
a behind the scenes look at the world of diplomacy. A well
written and novel approach to learning about the United Nations.
