The Ph.D. in Educational Studies fills a strategic gap in the preparation of professional educators to address the following critical issues:
  1. The influence of societal trends in demographics, economics, and politics on the structure and culture of schools and communities.
  2. The increasing role of technology in learning, instructional design, curriculum development, assessment, and pedagogy.
These areas of profound change alter the character and delivery of public education, teacher education, and educational research. Further, school reform initiatives are transforming the content, delivery, and assessment of public education. In response to these needs, the Department of Educational Studies offers a unique doctoral program to prepare graduates with the necessary knowledge, skills, and understanding to:
  • Assist students, teachers, and policy makers to function in a knowledge society
  • Implement teaching and learning technologies
  • Engage in systematic assessment, evaluation, and research
  • Develop policies for schools and communities that address the learning needs of changing populations.

The Ph.D. in Educational Studies includes significant coursework and specializations in the following three areas: Curriculum, Educational Technology, and Educational Foundations. Learn more about the Ph.D. in Educational Studies at:
