With the M.A. in Curriculum and Educational Technology, any BSU doctoral student may consider EDCUR and EDTEC coursework for their cognate requirements. Students interested in a cognate in Curriculum and Educational Technology should discuss a plan of study with their doctoral advisor and then contact an EDTEC or EDCUR faculty member to serve as a cognate representative. The EDTEC/EDCUR advisors can suggest a faculty member.

Because the the two interrelated disciplines within our masters degree, cognate coursework should consist of both EDTEC and EDCUR courses. However, advisors can develop cognate plans of study that emphasize one over the other. Below are some suggestions for EDTEC-emphasized cognates. 15-hour Cognate Suggestion for an EDTEC Emphasis:

• EDTEC 660 and 770 (6 hours)
• + One EDCUR course (3 hours)
• + Two more EDTEC courses (6 hours)

24-hour Cognate Suggestions for an EDTEC Emphasis:
