Mr. John Ginocchio - Conductor

       

     John Ginocchio is a student at Ball State University pursuing a Doctor of Arts degree in conducting and music education.  He currently serves as an Assistant Director for the Band Department at Ball State.  In addition to his work as conductor of the East Central Indiana Youth Symphony Orchestra, John also is the co-director of the Ball State University Concert Band and Pep Band, assistant director with the Ball State University "Pride of Mid-America" Marching Band, and the director of the third Jazz Ensemble. 

    Prior to doctoral work John was the teacher of instrumental music and Director of Bands for the Adams Central Community Schools in Monroe, Indiana, from 1993 until 2003.  In this capacity John taught instrumental musicians from beginning through high school band, general music, music theory, jazz ensemble, and popular music performance. 

    John is a 1993 graduate of Indiana University where he received a Bachelor of Music Education degree, and 1998 graduate of Ball State University receiving a Master of Music degree in trombone performance.  John has studied conducting with Stephen Pratt, Dr. Joseph Scagnoli, Tomasz Golka, and Bridget-Michael Reischl.  Trombone teachers have included Ted Hale, Keith Brown, Ed Anderson, and Dr. John Seidel.

    John has performed as a member of the Ball State University Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, and top Jazz Ensemble.  He is also a regular performer with the Muncie Symphony Orchestra and has performed as part of the Bernish Brass Quintet.

    John is married to Leanna Ginocchio of Monroe, Indiana, and has two children, Kayli and Jacob.
