Narrator:
Ah, young love. Isn’t it a beautiful thing? Well, anyway… THE NEXT MORNING!\ (Lights come up. Cinder is gone. There is a sun scene in the window now. Fogg awakens.)
(seeing Cinder missing) Oh no! Wake up guys! (Flint and Sparky stir.) Cinder is gone! (She runs to the front of the cell.) Guard! Guard!(A guard enters from SL, with his face covered by a helmet.)
(turning on her charm) Oh, Mr. Guard… why don’t you come on over here, so I can talk to you…(The guard comes closer.)
Why don’t you let us out of here? (She steals the keys from him.) We won’t be any trouble. (She unlocks the door. The “bars” slowly fade on the scene.) Of course, if you don’t… (She puts her arms around him.) I could always make you… (She grabs him.) wish… (She grabs his neck) you had never… (She shakes him once.) been born! (She throws him to the ground. Fogg kicks the guard as he tries to get up, then motions for the others to follow her. They begin to run off SR. The guard groans. The voice is familiar to them. It is Cinder. They run to him.)Fogg:
(Kneeling at his side. She removes his helmet.) Oh, Cinder! I’m sorry! I didn’t know it was you! (Pause.) How did you escape?Cinder:
(Still recovering) Well, I waited for the guard to bring us breakfast and I took his keys. The rest of it was easy. I locked you guys back in to avoid suspicion.Flint:
Well, why didn’t you tell us sooner?Cinder:
I wanted to see if Ms. Fogg here could really use her skills to subdue an enemy. Needless to say, you passed the test.Fogg:
What is that supposed to…Cinder:
We don’t have time to argue. I found out where Muckraker is hiding. Come on!(They head off stage right. Sparky stops short and turns around.)
(looking at the window.) If we’re in space, why is the sun out?(Flint comes back and pulls her offstage.)
