Narrator:
Meanwhile, back at the ranch. I’ve always wanted to say that…(Lights come up on SR side of wall, where Cinder and Fogg are hiding, Cinder at the wall facing SL, Fogg standing facing SR. The sound of lasers is heard. Members of the Minion Chorus run on and offstage shooting lasers at them)
There’s too many of them. They have us surrounded. I don’t think we going to get out of this.Cinder:
(not looking at her) Nonsense. Any real man could get out of this.(Fogg turns and stares at him.)
(continuing) At least that’s what my dad would say. Yeah, he taught me everything I know. He had to. I really didn’t have a mom. When I was ten, we all were taken as prisoners in an alien invasion. We tried hard to stay together and survive until we were rescued. Mom didn’t make it. She died just a few hours before we were saved. (Fogg lowers her guns.) As Dad and I were being shuttled back to our home, I vowed to find the scum who did this to us, even if it took the rest of my life. Now that I’ve found that scumbag, Muckraker, I can make good my promise.(Pause. Cinder continues watching out. Fogg has been pondering her thoughts about men. She reaches out to touch him. Before she can, Muckraker’s men, the Minion Chorus, charge in and seize them.)
