Prologue

(Our Narrator is sitting on a chair in front of the downstage curtain. As the curtain rises, we see darkness. Hidden in this darkness are our main characters: Cinder, Ms. Fogg, Flint, and Sparky.)

Narrator:

Good evening, and welcome to Ripples 2000. Tonight we will be showing you a brand new tale of mystery, suspense, drama, comedy, romance, horror, and… well… a whole lot of those other things. Anyway, I will be your narrator, your trained guide to this epic tale. My first duty is to introduce the players in our plot. (He stands and walks to DSR. Light comes up on Flint.) Our first hero is Flint. This man is a master of as many martial arts as there are stars in the sky. He has a mean left hook and an even meaner personality. (He walks to C. Light comes up on Sparky.) Our next heroine… (turns OSR) Can we say that word here? (Gives a nod of approval) OK. Our next heroine is a young lass by the name of Sparky. Before she was three, she had learned how to hot wire a car and a toaster. (Pause for laughter.) Right, well she has since become a master electrician. She lost her family in a mysterious explosion while she was away at military school. Her investigations have led her to suspect Emperor Muckraker was the culprit. (He turns SL. Light comes up on Ms. Fogg. She is quite attractive.) (He turns his back towards the audience and looks her over.) Well, that’s a nice piece of work. (He turns to the audience.) This lovely lady is our main heroine, Ms. Cindy Fogg. As you can see, she is very attractive to the eye. This works to her advantage as she is off conquering civilizations of male chauvinist pigs. (He walks DSR. Light comes up on Cinder.) Our main hero is this man, Cinder. His history is shrouded in mystery. He seems to appear wherever a battle is raging. His enemies never know him for long, as he is acclaimed as the fiercest fighter in the world. (As he walks back toward his chair.) And now the story. Our heroes have just arrived on an alien satellite. This satellite contains the evil Emperor Muckraker, who is trying to take over the galaxy. Only our heroes can stop him. Can they do it? Will they do it? Well I’m not going to tell you. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy… Adventure Quest! (He leaves, with his chair, SR.)
