| Gas Valves |
Gas Valves
The gas valves are the source of our natural gas used to operate the
Bunsen
burners. Care should be taken that all gas valves are left in the
closed
positions until they are needed. Also, no other hoses should be
attached
to the gas valves except those used for Bunsen burners.

| Water/Sink |
Water/Sink
The water that comes from these faucets are regular tap water which is
rich
in minerals and other dissolved solids. Since may of the
activities
we undertake are reactions where we want to observe the interaction of
two
specific chemicals, we would not want to use this as our water
source. For these types of reactions, use water from the water
distiller instead.
The sink also is a deceiving item in the chemistry
lab.
We must remember that the sink runs from our building and eventually
into
the environment. Therefore, certain chemicals that we use in the
lab
must not be disposed of down the sink. Always follow your
teachers
instructions when it comes to waste disposal.
