Community Involved
in Workshop on Western Avenue! |
| South Bend, IN--Architecture and urban planning
students and faculty from the Community Based Projects
program at Ball State University are in town working
with neighborhood residents to envision what Western
Avenue could be in the future. Taking information
collected from previous public meetings and surveys, the
team will transform community concerns and ideas into
drawings and images designed to spur support and
interest in revitalizing the area. |

BSU students meet with a

What is a charrette?
In the Beaux-Arts period French architecture
students would work on their projects in their homes and
then transport them to the College on a charrette, or
horse-drawn cart. While on the cart, students
would be racing to put last-minute finishing touches on
their projects. The term has been handed down, and
today is used to describe a short-term intense work
session. |
