Welcome to the Syracuse Planning & Design Studies!

The fourth year urban planning studio, over the course of the spring semester 2000, focused attention on the development of a series of planning and design strategies for the Town of Syracuse, Indiana.  These studies involved the assessment of community patterns and trends, identification and analysis of the issues, current planning efforts, developing a comprehensive series of planning and design recommendations for managing growth and development in these communities, and offer recommendations for implementing that plan.

This website provides documentation of the two community meetings conducted as part of the planning process, as well as the goals and recommendations produced by that process.  The actual comprehensive plan document containing a community profile, records of the community meetings, and plan recommendations is available for download in Adobe PDF format. PDF documents can be viewed with Adobe Acrobat Reader.  If you do not have Acrobat you can download it here free.

Thank you for your interest in the planning process of Syracuse and in the Community Based Projects program.  CBP is an outreach and service program of the College of Architecture and Planning at Ball State University.  CBP is the winner of the 2000 Community Design Award from the Fannie Mae Foundation and the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture for its community-service focus.
