September 27 & 28, 2004 -- Canfield Town Meetings
 |
|
Local residents share their ideas for their community's future |
Canfield residents had their first opportunities to voice their opinions and
concerns about their community's future in two town meetings held on Monday
September 27th and Tuesday September 28th at McMahon Hall.
In an amazing display of community pride and involvement, more than 200
residents showed up for the first meeting on Monday. Another 150
residents came to the second meeting the following day.
In the two meetings, Dr. James Segedy and fourth year students from Ball
State University facilitated a series of discussions about the City of
Canfield. The discussion was very productive, and every citizen
present had chances to get their voice heard. Though opinions varied
greatly, several key issues included the construction of a new community
center, improvements to the Canfield library and post office, traffic
through the downtown area, diversifying the local tax base, and the
importance of the village green.
