Winamac is a small rural town typified
by a very eclectic disorganization, proud citizens and tremendous
potential. The community has outstanding natural resources and
strong economic and social amenities. People want a better
community, business owners want to make more money and property
owners want to revitalize their buildings; The only thing the
community lacks is an entity to tie everything together. This is
where an involved and energetic Main Street organization can bridge
that gap. This document is
intended to “jump start” the Main Street Winamac organization and
help the Winamac community find its own special “niche” or identity
that will help it to achieve its potential. The Plan will give the
Main Street Winamac organization a starting point and provide
insight into beginning revitalization programs. The Plan is based on
a scientific market analysis, professional observation and valuable
community input. The recommendations in The Plan represent only the
beginning of the downtown revitalization process in Winamac. The
Main Street organization must keep up with any changing trends or
needs in Winamac and amend The Plan accordingly. The planning and
revitalization process is ongoing and continuous, requiring a
constant flow of new ideas. This is the challenge presented to Main
Street Winamac. An active, concerned and skilled Main Street
