CSHU: College of Sciences and Humanities

The College of Sciences and Humanities is characterized by diversity and a commitment to liberal education. The college is a remarkably diverse unit, housing the humanities; the physical, earth, and life sciences; and the social sciences--subjects central to the University Core Curriculum courses required of all students.

The College of Sciences and Humanities, the largest academic unit at Ball State University, is committed to liberal education and to the belief that students must be trained in specific skills and educated to think critically, communicate clearly, solve problems creatively, act responsibly, and live fully. The college is committed to a concept of wholeness, an ideal of coherence that helps faculty and students synthesize knowledge and make connections among the many specialties and subspecialties that compose the universe of knowledge.
