The LDI seeks to be the regional
clearinghouse for sustainable and regenerative land decisions, and for
helping people understand the interrelationship of land resources and
human decisions. This includes the development of an integrated
Statewide GIS database and methodologies for extending this database
to address issues of sustainability and regeneration of the land-based
resource. The LDI is developing research proposals for the integration
of remote sensed data into this database, and integrating remotely
sensed data into decision-making processes for promoting community
sustainability.
As regional clearinghouse of sustainable and regenerative land based
decision making, the LDI can enhance the University’s service to
communities seeking to manage their resources in a sustainable manner.
It can solidify Ball State’s leadership in sustainable and
regenerative land based decision making. It can help public schools
address the land based dimensions of their advanced science curricula,
and help communities make decisions that sustain long term efficiency
and viability, and their ecological and cultural land based resources.
It can help connect the professional planning and design communities
to decisions that sustain the land resource. |
