Viking Open Results

Ball State powerlifting took it back on the road to Chicago Illinois for the Viking open. St. Benedicts High School was the destination set for destruction and there would be no survivors. Inspired by Satan Matt had his plan already in action, TOTAL DOMINATION. Matt says there is only one way to start the day off right, a Double Whopper and a massive squat. After smashing his first two attempts Matt decided to go for the glory. With a gut of steal and a butt-plug of Whopper Matt crushed 772 for a personal record and established himself  permanently as  a true Church of Iron freakazoid. Matt's domination did not stop after the squats were finished. Matt impressed all as he went on to bench 518, deadlift 672 and total 1962! Matt took 1st place in the open and junior divisions and received the best squat award. Congratulations Matt.

Steve Kouimanis was also a force to be reckoned with in Chicago even though he was a few pounds over 220. Bumping up to the 242's did not phase Steve at all and he came out strong with a 650 squat and a 452 bench. Going into the deadlifts Steve was leading the pack but this would be a battle fought to the end. After a 672 deadlift by Richard Auxer Steve needed a big pull to achieve victory in the open division. Fighting until the end like a true warrior, Steve missed a personal best on his final deadlift attempt and Auxer took 1st in the open division. Steve took 1st place in the junior division and 2nd place in the open division. Congratulations Steve!
