Blacksmith Open Results

In the morning session, 132 Julia Kaufman set personal records in all lifts.  BSU Rookie Brett Clark also had a big day with a 1052 PR total.  He also PR'd on all three lifts.  

In the afternoon session, "Big" Joe Williams set personal records on all three lifts, and just missed a 369 bench.  His total of 1221 was the best 165 total on the team and placed him 2nd in the 165 Open division.  Justin Cecil and Andy Fry both tied with 1166.  Fry also had PR's on all lifts throughout the day.  In the 181's, Justin Ware won both the Open and Junior title's while setting PR's on all lifts.  Mike Robertson had a PR squat before bombing out on bench.  Brendan Kavanagh was the only BSU lifter in the second flight of the afternoon, but had a very successful day and finished with a 1288 total in the 198 class.

In the evening session, rookie Steve Kouimanis and Matt Wenning put on a show.  Steve had PR's in all three lifts, recorded Indiana Junior records in all lifts, and finished first overall in the Junior 220 class.  In his first meet, he also recorded 9/9 good lifts and was redlighted only once.  Matt Wenning had the biggest squat of the day with a meaty 704 and finished with a 1754 total, good for 1st in the Junior and Open 275 class.

Overall, the team got it's first win of the season taking first place as a team in the Junior Divison.  Along with that, 10 of 12 possible lifters qualified for the Collegiate National Championships in Killeen, Tx.  Individual results are posted below.  Congratulations to all BSU lifters!
