DIETETIC ASSOCIATION
CONSTITUTION
Revised December 2003
I. PURPOSE
To inform four
year Dietetic majors of
information relevant to both
their college and professional
careers. This will be
accomplished through the
introduction to faculty and to
other students within the
department of Family and
Consumer Sciences as well as
professionals in our area of
study. We encourage learning
more about our major by
providing opportunities to take
part in activities outside of
class such as field trips,
fundraisers and community
service. Our goal is to serve
both the university and the
greater community through
education on the topics of our
specialty. This association
lays emphasis on having fun
through involvement in an
informal setting as well.
II. ATTENDANCE
-To be an active member,
members cannot miss more than
three meetings in one year
without an excused absence.
-Excused absences consist
of death in the family, illness,
class or field trip.
-If membership is
discontinued, the student will
have to pay dues again to become
a member.
III. DUES
-Dues are $15 each year
for membership.
-Dues should be paid in
full by the fourth meeting of
the organization.
IV. ELECTIONS
-Nominations will be
accepted by members at the
February meeting up until
election time at the March
meeting.
-To be eligible for
office, the student must have
paid their dues and be an active
member.
-Nominations will be
accepted from the floor at the
election meeting.
-Nominees must consent for
their name to be placed on the
ballot.
-Elections will be held in
March.
-All eligible members can
vote on the candidates.
-To be eligible, members
must have paid their dues.
-If an officer cannot
fulfill their duties, the
president will appoint a member
to replace the officer.
V. PARTICIPATION
-To be an active member, a
student must participate in a
minimum of 2 activities per
year.
-Activities will be
announced at organization
meetings, and the officer in
charge must verify
participation.
