| Synopsis: |
This course will
explore the structure, function and interactions of many types of
biological molecules including DNA, RNA and proteins. Major emphasis will
be placed on genes, gene regulation/expression, cell cycle regulation, G
proteins and second messenger pathways, apoptosis, oncogenes/
proto-oncogenes, cancer and gene therapy. Laboratory exercises are
designed to give practical, hands-on experience and train students in
modern molecular techniques that will be useful in future endeavors.
