Cell Biology (Intro to Recombinant DNA and Molecular Biology recommended) |
| Synopsis: |
This course is an introduction to bioinformatics and is open to students within the Biotech Certification as well as other science majors. Laboratory exercises include the manual sequencing of double-stranded DNA of an unknown EST identified through microarray analysis. Lectures and computer lab exercises include the use of internet databases, genome and proteome analyses, Vector NTI software and programming. The course culminates in a poster presentation of gene/protein structure/function analyses performed on the manually sequenced unknown EST.
