'When we arrived at LaMilpa, I was pleasantly surprised, it was absolutely gorgeous!" - Tammy.

"It is beautiful - almost resortish!" - Beth

"Our lodgings are nice, but I can't say much for the toilet-there was a bug in the sawdust!" - Stacy.

"On our way, we saw sugar can being burned to scare out critters." - Beth.

(LaMilpa ruins) - "It is neat to imagine how things looked." - Shelly P.

"We saw an ancient "refrigerator" where the elite Maya kept their food supplies underground." - Tyla

"Nasario (our guide) is Mayan. He is very proud of his heritage and that's how it should be. He feels about archaeologists the way I do about lawyers." - Beth

"My mind and spirit enjoyed LaManai more than anything in quite a while." - Shelly T.

"Today, we went and saw Mr. Salzano, who is a medicine man. He had a variety of concoctions to heal your pains and problems. It was interesting how much the rainforest provides us medicinally." - John.

"We all got to try a tea that would help with chiggers. Dr. Morrell should have drunk a lot - he has them all over!" - Misty.

Movie Dancing

"It was interesting how they used certain clothes to represent certain dances." - Mark at dance in town.

"The scavenger hunt really turned into a more inquisitive session for all of us. We were able for the first time to kind of go on our town and discover things, but then still be able to go back and have any questions answered." - Korinne.

"There was a termite nest and I ate one. It tasted a bit minty." - Tammy.

"I also ate two termites (after assurances of its safety). I figured I would be able to feel its legs moving in my throat, but I was wrong." - Beth.

"Carl and I went on the Chicle Trail and only 20 feet in, we saw this little dark tail behind one of the trees and a coatamundi emerged. It let us get with 5-10 feet of it, so it was neat to see its behavior up close. It was also neat to see Carl's behavior as the big chicken took cover behind me when the coati was close." - Holly.

"The guides Lewis and Oscar were great!" - Shelly T.

Butterfly Movie

"Tonight I caught a pygmy owl and handled a tarantula. The owl bit me, but the spider was cool." - Matt.

"We saw a bunch of spider monkeys overhead. They are a lot like humans (big egos) and were hilariously trying to intimidate us by shaking tree limbs." - Holly

"Those are the only wild monkeys I have seen...ever!" - John.

"I thought the leaf cutter ants were the highlight of the day until we continued down the path and heard the roar of the howler monkeys." - Shelly T.

"The other time the hard work theme came up was with leaf cutter ants. Millions of them work together to achieve a common goal." - Tyla

"After the lecture I was able to hold a tarantula and catch and hold a bat." - Tammy.

End of the day.......
