What will we do?
Course Objective: To expose athletic training & exercise science majors to Australian sports medicine & culture.
This course will include:
- An introduction to common Australia sports including: surfing, rugby, & cricket as well as their related injuries.
- Lectures from clinicians who provide care to Australian athletes, such as: Physios, Exercise Physiologist, Nutritionists, Sport Psychologists, Homeopathic practitioners, & Physicians
- Programming at the Australian Institute of Sport (http://www.ausport.gov.au/ais/ )
- Tour of the Sydney Olympic Park (http://www.sydneyolympicpark.com.au/)
- Tour of the New South Wales Institute of Sport (http://www.nswis.com.au/)
- Surf Lesson & Surf Injury Lecture (http://www.mojosurf.com.au/)
- Bush walk in an Australian Rainforest
- Exposure to complementary & alternative medicine
- Free time to explore the local area
- Reading assignments & a final group paper on a sports medicine related topic
