What will we do?

Course Objective: To expose athletic training & exercise science majors to Australian sports medicine & culture.

This course will include:

  • An introduction to common Australia sports including: surfing, rugby, & cricket as well as their related injuries.
  • Lectures from clinicians who provide care to Australian athletes, such as: Physios, Exercise Physiologist, Nutritionists, Sport Psychologists, Homeopathic practitioners, & Physicians
  • Programming at the Australian Institute of Sport (http://www.ausport.gov.au/ais/ )
  • Tour of the Sydney Olympic Park (http://www.sydneyolympicpark.com.au/)
  • Tour of the New South Wales Institute of Sport (http://www.nswis.com.au/)
  • Surf Lesson & Surf Injury Lecture (http://www.mojosurf.com.au/)
  • Bush walk in an Australian Rainforest
  • Exposure to complementary & alternative medicine
  • Free time to explore the local area
  • Reading assignments & a final group paper on a sports medicine related topic
