Liberal & Fine Arts

Recommended for: Art, English, Foreign Language, Music, Theater, Visual Communication Majors

Like all BSU undergraduates, students in the Liberal and Fine Arts disciplines are required to take courses in the Physical, Earth, and Life sciences and Social and Behavioral sciences in order to satisfy the requirements of the University Core Curriculum.  Identify one concept, theory, experience, or idea that was presented to you in a science or social science-focused university course, and explain why you found it remarkable, memorable, significant, or useful in another setting.

Science & Technology

Recommended for: Architecture, Computer Studies, Consumer Sciences, Health Sciences, Industrial Technology, Math, Natural Sciences, Physical Sciences Majors (etc.)

Departments in the Science and Technology Exam cluster emphasize the importance of "hands-on learning" in their classroom, studio, and laboratory learning environments.  In addition, students are exposed to professional environments through internships, assistantships, student teaching etc.  In an essay, explain the one or two most important ways that the "hands-on learning" experiences you have had or will have as a student may be of value to you as an expert practitioner in your field of studies.

Social Studies

Recommended for: Communication Studies, Criminal Justice, History, Journalism, Natural Sciences, Psychological Sciences, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Telecommunications, and Political Science Majors
