Dear Alumnus,
On Friday, May 16, at 2:30 pm EST the
Ball State University Alumni Association is hosting an event that will set a precedent for alumni associations. However, this event will not be held at the alumni association, a bowling alley, or even in some fancy banquet hall in downtown Indianapolis. Instead, the event will be held online utilizing the virtual world of
Second Life.
During the event, attendees will be given a tour of the Ball State Island by
John Fillwalk, Associate Professor of Art and
Dan Lutz, Associate Director of University
Teleplex. The tour will take the guests around the island which is complete with
Benny, Bell Tower,
Musical Instruction Building, and
Bracken Library among others. After
the tour we will have time for a Q & A session. Virtual t-shirts and coffee mugs will be given away during the event.
Participation in the event is simple and requires only two capabilities. First, you must have an established Second Life account, as previous experience in Second Life will be extremely helpful. Secondly, in order to make communication as seamless as possible, audio capabilities are suggested. Text questions will be allowed after the event.
Finding the island is easy; all you have to do is search Ball State University
on the main map and teleport to the island. If you would like to participate in this event, please RSVP by May 14th.
See you there!
