Oh, Hello There...

My name is Alyson Keely Sanders. I am 18 years of age and will be turning 19 on June 11th. I graduated High School last year and am currently attending Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. I have always loved Computers and the Internet, as my family has always had a computer in the house. Yes, before we had Windows, I remember asking daddy to command C:/Dos to bring up my favorite games to play. Speaking of daddy, when I'm not here at school, I live with my father, Robert(46), brother, Shawn(21), and Grandmother, Cristina Smith, in Bargersville. My mother, Jacqueline(43) resides in Whiteland with her fiance. Bargersville is just south of Indianapolis (about 30 minutes) and Whiteland is only 10 minutes further south. Oh, and before I forget, also living at my father's home, are our pets. Domino, our dalmation, Psycho and Luna(tic), our cats, and Pepper, my cockatiel.

Growing up, I attended Center Grove Elementary, Middle, and High School. It is a very lovely school system with a mostly nice community and I highly recommend it (just beware of the posher neighborhoods.) While I was in High School, I gravitated towards the computer classes, as they were mostly easy-A's for someone who grew up with a computer. Though learning how to code Visual Basic and ASCII C were a welcomed challenge. Sometime in High School (I can't be bothered to remember exactly when, but it was during a Christmas Break) I taught myself how to code HTML. Then, I made my very first website dedicated to my then favorite band, Gorillaz. It still stands today but with a major revamp and a host change from angelfire to freewebs. You can check it out here: Gorillaz Sanctuary. It is a dormant remnant of my love for the band, though it still gets hits (almost 3000), to my surprise.

My other love in High School was Japanese. I took all four years of the language through High School. I also became the Japanese National Honors' Society President. I tested out of Japanese 101 and 102 here at Ball State and am currently finishing 202 this semester. I hope to travel to Japan for a semester or a year, or perhaps wait until I am out of college to participate in a longer program, but I never know what the future will bring.

Major/Minors

Currently, I am a Pre-Telecommunications major, though I will become a Telecommunications major with an emphasis in multimedia. My current minors are Japanese Language and Graphic Arts. I want to be able to design web pages for different companies, because I think the internet is going to be around for a long time and that it will be important for any and all companies to have comfortable, navigatable, and helpful websites to gain the upper-hand in business.
However, as everyone knows, a college student is never set in his or her ways, and all majors and minors are subject to change as need fit.

Core Values

1. Love for yourself and others (Compassion)
In order to have love for others, you must love yourself first and foremost, and love for others is the most important thing in the world if you want to interact with others. It's important especially to look past the faults in others in order to work with well with them. However, there are much more important applications for having compassion. Take Mother Teresa for example. Though her great passion for other human beings, she worked until her death to help others less fortunate than herself. I think everyone should aspire to be so great in spirit

2. Strong work ethic
I cannot stand it when people get a job and then DO NOT work. It's as if they did not understand the concept why they are getting paid. People who work hard for their money deserve the most respect. My mother taught me this. She works hard jobs and doesn't ever complain. She does it because she has to work them for money, and she knows so, no reason to complain. That is why she got the job, to work and get money.

3. Respect for elders
It is always important to listen to your parents, right? Well, those who taught your parents are your Grandparents and they usually have much more interesting to say in their long years than your parents. Not to mention, they won't be around as long as your parents, so you had better take advantage of talking to them now, while you can. My best friend taught me this, as she has an unending love for her grandparents, even when they annoy her and she doesn't want to see them. She is very compassionate with them and patient, helping them with their problems and spending time with them.

4. Faith
No, I'm not talking strictly Jesus or God here, I'm talking about faith in mankind as well. If you don't have faith in even yourself, what have you got to look, forward to? Whom do you trust? I know when I'm down and out, I can run to my prayers, and those who have faith in their fellow man, can believe that all is not wrong in the world. But if you don't have any of those, what do you do? I feel that faith in something can make you a stronger person in spirit if in nothing else.

5. Strong imagination and appreciation of creativity
I love art. All kinds of art. I stop on the sidewalk and watch the trees sway, and call it art. Those who can stop and "smell the roses," seeing the beauty in the world around them and capturing objects and emotions in art, are extra special to me. Each and every one of those creative people take a risk when they publish their imagination onto to a canvas or a blank sheet of paper or a photograph, or whatever medium they see fit.

6. Courage and strength to stand up for onesself and others
Stand up for what you and others believe in. Garunteed, people will like you more for being an honest person than to find out that you've been fake all along.

7. Patience and Tolerance
Working with different kinds of people means working with different backgrounds, beliefs, and senses of humor. Being patient and tolerant with others will keep you out of trouble and will help you have more enjoyable work experiences. Even if you do not believe the same thing as someone else who continually brings that fact up, if you be patient with them, and most imporantly, tolerant of their arrogance, you will be able to make it through your day more easily.

Hobbies and Interests

My two most favorite hobbies are surfing on the internet, posting on internet messageboards and listening to music. More often than not, the latter two will coincide and I post at messageboards that have to do with either my favorite bands or that are generally about music.
