My Curriculum Response For Technology :

Go To Relevant Lesson Plans

As a pre service teacher, I solely believe children construct their own learning through the guidance of the teacher. In my teaching methods, I teach children to discovery learning in a contructivist approach. In this manner, this why technology should be implemented into the curriculum.

I believe in preparing students with the essentials of being problem- solvers and critical-thinkers. Since, our world is being equipped to function with more technology, we need to teach technology in the curriculum in every aspect.

Technology should be implemented in the classroom because it is an area that motivates children. Children are always curious to learn about new ideas, which will mold and construct their own learning. Students should be allowed to learn more about real-life experiences. As educators, we need to teach children technology and show them why it is important to other areas in the real world. Then, they will begin to learn and understand why other subject areas are important to learn. Students are eager to learn about Technology, and when you teach something that interests students, they will learn.

In the curriculum, technology allows teachers to teach unique lessons The teacher guides the students through their own learning. In relating this to an theorist, I believe Vygotsy is applied within Technology. Technology is based on his Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD). In his theory, he believed that children learned from assistance and guidance of other adults and role models in their environment. The adult is responsible for scaffolding the child's learning process but the child is still constructing his/her own learning. So...children need to be modeled how to think, not what to think.

Technology helps educators teach because it is natural integrated in the curriculum, in various ways with other subject areas. Teachers will not be troubled, when they are ask to teach many different subjects within the classroom. Technology is based on the student's natural curiosity. It brings the real-life experience in the classroom.

Jerome Bruner stated, "Learning is an active and social process in which students construct new ideas or concepts based on current knowledge. The student selects information originates hypotheses and makes decisions in the process of integrated experiences into their existing mental constructs," In Bruner's theory, I believe he wanted technology to be integrated in the classroom because technology is all of these things and much more.

Technology helps encourage students to discover principles by themselves. It naturally allows teachers and students to discuss issues and concepts. It also helps the teacher translate information to be learned into a form appropriate to the learner's current state of understanding. A variety of teaching methods, many choices available to the student, and multiage peer groups all facilitate learning in Technology.

This is an excellent lesson plan which allows educators to teach students about the fundamental skills of word processing. It allows the the teacher and student to explore on both Macintosh and IBM computers.

Lesson2

Children love to take pictures. This is excellent lesson plan to implement the digital camera into the classroom while learning about other subject areas. You don't have to use the exact activity, but the ideas with the digital camera. This can be excellent with a variety of activities.
