Aquatic Plants

Summary:

In this lesson, students will become familiar with the various types of aquatic plants. Students will explore and discover the shape, color, texture and environment of each plant. Students will use group discussion and individual exploration to further their knowledge of aquatic plants.

Audience:

This lesson plan will be taught for 3rd grade classroom.

Objective:

1. Given a group of ten plants, students will be able to identify five plants.

2. Given a group of aquatic plants, students will be able to describe the different shapes and textures.

3. After watching a movie, students will explain the contribution each plant has within their environment.

Materials:

* A jar (for each student)

*VCR

*Television

*Video of Sea and Sea Life

*paper, pencils (for each student)

*10 different aquatic plants

*soil

Methods:

*Teacher will layout real plants on table, children will explore by using all senses except for taste.

*Gather students in a discussion group and questions about their exploration.

*Students will watch a movie called Sea and SeaLife. After watching the movie, the teacher will give students a quiz.

Assessment:

Students will design their own ecosystem for aquatic plant life in a jar.
