Studies in Non-Western Civilizations (History) # 198

Greetings and welcome to "STUDIES IN NON-WESTERN CIVILIZATIONS."  The objective of this course is to cultivate a non-Western global perspective on the human experience. We will survey the literature, art, science, technology and the social and political systems of major societies/civilizations in Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and the Pacific from the dawn of man to the present. The course will emphasize the contributions of non-Western societies to the creativity, richness and diversity of the human condition. Structurally, the course will start with the earliest of societies and move to the most complex.  Videos, novels, and other reading materials will be used to provide us with a deeper appreciation of non-Western history.
