Honors Symposium in Global Studies (Honors) # 189

Greetings and welcome to "HONORS SYMPOSIUM IN GLOBAL STUDIES." The objective of this course is to cultivate a non-Western global perspective on the human experience. We will survey the literature, art, science, technology and the social and political systems of major societies/civilizations in Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and the Pacific from the dawn of man to the present. The course will emphasize the contributions of non-Western societies to the creativity, richness and diversity of the human condition. Within the title of this course is the word "symposium" which in this instance means "a gathering at which there is free interchange of ideas." Thus, this course utilizes a thematic approach in a lecture-video discussion format.
