History

1984- Steve Lasseter leaves his animations job at Disney to join filmmaker
George Lucas’ special effects computer group that later becomes Pixar.

1986- The computer graphics team of lucasfilm, ltd. is purchased by Steve Jobs
for $10 million and established as an independent company christened as
pixar.

1988-The pixar short film tin toy has its premiere at siggraph.

1991- Pixar and Walt Disney Studio's team up to develop, produce and
distribute up to three feature-length animated films. Pixar makes fifteen
commercials.

1993- Pixar makes nine commercials and an ibm logo.

1995- Pixar goes public, with an initial public offering of 6,900,000 shares at $22
a share. Toy story hits U.S. theaters Thanksgiving weekend and does down in
history as the first fully computer-animated feature film. The movie is
distributed by Disney.

1998- A Bug's Life Is released and breaks all previous thanksgiving box office
records.

1999- Toy Story 2 is released breaking all weekend box office records in the
u.s.

2000- Monsters Inc. becomes the highest grossing animated film worldwide.

2003- Finding Nemo breaks box office records.

2004-Pixar's movie "The Incredibles" will hit theatres everywhere.

2005-Pixar's movie "Cars" will hit theatres everywhere.
