- Since AOL Time Warner is involved in so many different sections
of media, it is easy to say that they are a large conglomerate company, if
not the biggest. A conglomerate company is one that is made up of a
number of different companies that operate in diversified fields.(TCOM101) AOL Time
Warner is involved in several media fields such as music, film, television,
and more.
- Globalization seems to be very active in AOL Time Warner. America
Online alone serves 35 million members worldwide. The second main branch
of AOL Time Warner is located in Europe. "The companies of AOL Time
Warner have been at home in Europe for generations since Warner Bros. first
began distributing its movies here--and delighting European audiences--in

- Since AOL Time Warner is such a large conglomerate company, it
is easy for them to use vertical integration. Vertical integration is
the concentration of ownership by acquiring companies that are in related
businesses, such as production and distribution. (TCOM 101) For example,
AOL Time Warner might want to advertise for their internet company America
Online, so they could use their many television networks they possess to play
their commercials in the prime time spots. This company uses this practice
quite often, allowing themselves to dominate the market.
- The usage of media synergy will be gigantic in this company.
If you remember, media synergy is the cooperative interaction among
the subsidiaries or parts of a media corporation, that creates an enhanced
combined effect.(TCOM 101)
AOL Time Warner is fusing together all their resources to bring an
enhanced media to the fingertips of society. The largest area affected
in my belief is television. Soon, internet utilities, large databases
of movies and music, and much more will be available to consumers just through
their television set, for a nominal fee of course! The possibilities
of synergy are endless with this company if they are willing to give it a
try.
