| M.J. Rose is a writer that couldn't find a publisher to buy her book: Lip Service. Rose turned to the Internet. Through Amazon she sold printed copies of her book, also self-published 3000 copies and sent out her books for review to every appropriate Web site she could find. The feedback from her book was very positive, and the result of this was that her book became the highest-ranked small press novel on Amazon. Her book was selected by the Doubleday Book Club and Literary Guild to be featured as an alternate selection in their print catalogue; this was the first self-published novel to be chosen for such an honor. Publishers that turned Rose down the first time, were practically knocking at her door step to be the publisher of her book. She ended up publishing with Pocket Books and has published, with them, two more novels. |
