Kennedy vs Nixon: How Television Made a Differences
Before the Kennedy and Nixon election in 1960, political debates were limited to just radio and reported in the newspapers. The television coverage of Kennedy's and Nixon's debates really gave the viewers visual perspective. This also helped Kennedy more than it did Nixon. Nixon refused to wear make-up, and tended to sweat on stage, but Kennedy wore makeup and his face looked flawless. It also showed the candidates' apperances; Kennedy was taller, younger and more attractive than his opponet, Nixon. Viewers could see the reactions of the candidates to questions and to the responses, too. With the help of TV, Kennedy won the election.

Today, most people watch TV to keep informed with the presidential election, but rely more on the newspaper for local elections. I think if TV were to cover some of the debates of local candidates more people would vote in these elections.
