Patagopteryx deferrariisi fossils have been 
found in
Patagonia
located in Late Cretaceous
sediments. It has been
described as having a
robust body with small wings and referred to as
a
chicken-size flightless bird with a body length
of approximately 2.5 ft. (Feduccia
1996, Alvarenga
and Bonaparte 1992).
Patagopteryx is considered an intermediate form
between dinosaurs and modern day birds.
