Light Signal Module

Maximize your Brake Light Effectiveness with BackOFF. This compact solid state electronic module converts your ordinary brake light into an attention getting visual alerting device, creating more visibility and conspicuity when you are stopped or stopping. With BackOFF-MC installed, when you apply your brakes, it causes your brake light to automatically emit a visual alerting signal of 3 short light flashes, followed by 1 steady on light condition of 3.5 seconds. This signal automatically repeats itself as long as the brakes are applied. This pattern is not random, but has been selected because of its ability to gain and retain following drivers attention. Most states drivers handbooks recommend that you flash your brakes when slowing or stopping. The BackOFF-MC automatically facilitates compliance and enhances safety. Install the BackOFF-MC and see how much more effective your brake light can be. Features:Easy

Brake Light Signal Modulator
Step 1 |
Before beginning make sure your brake and running lights are working properly. |
|
Step 2 |
Using a test light, locate and note the color of the brake light "hot" (+) wire. This wire will cause the test light to light when the brakes are applied, and go out when they are released. Note: on the 2000 Honda Spirit this is the green wire with the yellow stripe. |
|
Step 3 |
Mount the enclosed adhesive pad to the backside of the Brake Light Signal Module. Then find a convenient location near where you want to splice into the brake light wire. Assure the mounting surface area is clean and free of grease or oil prior to attaching adhesive pad (adhesive pad will gain 50% of its strength within 30 minutes of placement and will be fully cured in 24 hours.). I mounted the module under the seat and used wire ties to make sure the module stayed where I mounted it. |
|
Step 4 |
I cut just enough of the brake wire (green with yellow stripe) from the harness going to the tail light so that I could add a connector to the piece that was removed.I could not find connectors that would work with the OEM connectors. Therefore, I installed a male plug connector to the white/red striped wire on the module and the small piece of green/yellow stripe wire removed from the tail light harness.I installed a female connector to the red wire on the module and the green/yellow stripe wire from the tail light harness. The small piece of green/yellow striped wire with OEM male on one end and male plug on the other served as a coupling to mate the main harness and the red wire on the module. The white/red striped wire from the module plugs into the green/yellow striped wire from the tail light harness.I used heat shrink tubing on all connectors. |
|
Step 5 |
Note: Be sure to connect the Red Wire from the module to the end of the wire leading to the bike's switch, and the White wire with a red stripe to the end of the wire leading to the bike's brake light. IF YOU DO NOT CONNECT THE WIRES CORRECTLY THE MODULE WILL NOT WORK! |
