On Thursday, November 13, 2008 at the Cornerstone Center for the Arts, Virginia Ball Center for Creative Inquiry students from the Expectation of Excellence seminar attended the award ceremony for the second annual Harvest Moon Film Festival and received the award for Best Student Film for the student produced documentary film Mintonette: An Exploration of Title IX.

The film follows the local national championship girls' Burris Lady Owls volleyball team during its fall season and explores how athletics plays a vital role in community and personal growth.

The Harvest Moon Film Festival was created by festival director Robby Tompkins as a way to celebrate the films and the filmmakers of the Midwest. The festival continued into the weekend with screenings of all the films and educational seminars.
