Master of Urban & Regional Planning Application Materials
Students seeking admission to Ball State University's master of urban and regional planning (M.U.R.P.) program must apply to and meet the admission requirements of both the Graduate School and the Department of Urban Planning. To expedite the process, please submit your application materials to the department at the same time you apply to the Graduate School.

To apply for admission to this program, you must submit the following:

To the Graduate School

  • Completed university application for graduate admission (apply online or request application materials by visiting the Graduate School online.)
  • One official transcript from each higher education institution you have attended

To the Department of Urban Planning

  • Letter requesting admission to the M.U.R.P. program
  • Three letters of reference that evaluate your readiness for graduate study and your interest in the urban planning profession
  • Copy of your undergraduate (and graduate, if applicable) transcripts
  • Portfolio and/or sample of your writing, such as a copy of a term paper, a report from a previous work experience, or an essay on a topic of your choice
  • If you are interested in applying for a Graduate Assistantship, also complete and submit the Graduate Assistantship Application Packet.
