Urban Planning Field Study
Urban planning students at Ball State University take trips to places across the country and around the world that demonstrate a rich variety of approaches to planning and land development. These experiences introduce a multicultural and diverse understanding of planning solutions.

The urban planning program has provided on-site study of Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Toronto, Portland, and Seattle. Students also travel to the American Planning Association's annual convention.

During the spring semester in alternate years, a group of students participates in CAP Asia to study planning problems, solutions, and cultures in Malaysia, China, India, and Sri Lanka, a program of unique international stature.

The Department of Urban Planning's active study-abroad program involves courses and an internship in a planning-related agency. Study-abroad sites on five continents have included the Indian subcontinent, the Netherlands, China, Australia, Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico.

The College of Architecture and Planning also offers other international tours and exchanges. Learn more about CAP's field study programs.
