Tree planting
As part of Arbor Day celebrations, Ball State students helped plant trees in two Muncie parks April 24 and 25. Working with Muncie-Delaware County Clean and Beautiful, the students planted 20 trees in Heekin Park and 20 more in McCulloch Park.

Assistant secretary of education to speak at commencement ceremony honoring three others
Diane Auer Jones, who as U.S. assistant secretary for postsecondary education is responsible for developing higher education policy and legislative proposals for the Bush administration, will be the principal speaker during Ball State's annual spring commencement on May 3. Indianapolis civic leader Dennis Bland also will be honored, along with former faculty member Steve Bell and Vectren Corp. Chairman and Class of 1970 alumnus Niel C. Ellerbrook. FULL STORY

Unveiling of Nichols portrait
To honor his mentor and former chair of Ball State's art department, Alice Nichols, alumnus John Surovek commissioned artist Tuck Langland to sculpt a portrait of the late educator. The sculpture of Alice Nichols was unveiled during a private dedication ceremony April 16 outside of the Fine Arts Building.
