John Saltmarsh is project director of "Integrating Service with Academic Study" at Campus Compact, a national organization dedicated to civic engagement and service learning.

Saltmarsh previously served as a professor of history at Northeastern University and a research fellow at the Feinstein Institute for Public Service at Providence College.

He is author of "Learning to Serve: Promoting Civil Society Through Service Learning." His essays on service learning and experiential education have appeared in the Journal of Experiential Education and the Journal of Cooperative Education.
