National Park Service Director Fran Mainella and Ball State University President Jo Ann M. Gora talk to students and community members in all 50 states and seven countries to promote three Ball State Electronic Field Trips that will take place in national parks during the 2006-07 academic year. The women are standing on the deck of the USS Constitution, the oldest active commissioned warship in the world, known as "Old Ironsides" because cannonballs bounced off its wooden hull during a battle with Great Britain in the War of 1812. Mainella was in Boston to promote National Park Week in conjunction with a visit by Laura Bush, first lady of the United States, who is the honorary chair of the National Park Foundation.
