To help you find the academic path that's right for you, we've designed many personal programs and services that enable you to explore your interests and learn more about different majors. We'll also be there to help you at every stage, with every decision.
Take a look at some of our "tools for success."
Personal Academic Advising
Beginning during orientation, you'll receive personal attention from a full-time academic advisor who will help you create a personal plan of discovery. Our advisors will help you transform your interests, goals, and talents into an academic path that is right for you.
Core Classes
All Ball State, students take courses from the University Core Curriculum during their first two years. These courses will help you explore many different fields before you identify your major -- all while taking classes that "count" toward graduation.
An Interactive Web Site: Quest
Our innovative, interactive Web site Quest will help you match your interests and personality traits to possible majors and careers. You can also explore job outlooks and salary ranges.
Opportunities to Talk with Students
The Senior VIP (Very Informed Person) Connection will put you in touch with upperclass students in different majors. You can ask questions about various majors and hear from someone with firsthand experience.
Freshman Seminar: ID 101
During your first semester, you can enroll in a seven-week, "for credit" course in which you explore your interests and research academic majors and related careers.
Many More Resources
Other resources like assessments, evaluation tools, programs, and courses are available to help you investigate majors and pick your career path. You can also meet with our Major/Minor Coordinator. Contact at 285-8440 to set up an appointment.
More than 150 majors
When you are ready to declare your major, you'll have plenty to choose from. We offer more than 150 majors and preprofessional programs -- from advertising to entrepreneurship and meteorology to social work.
